FBI Baffled by Master Bank Thief Who Has Evaded Capture for More Than 75 Years

At approximately 10:27 AM, the suspect is observed approaching the pen repository. Moments later, several writing instruments disappear. Investigators believe the act was premeditated.

Authorities estimate the suspect has stolen hundreds, possibly thousands, of items directly from financial institutions while maintaining a calm demeanor and excellent credit score.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Federal investigators today admitted they remain unable to identify or apprehend a notorious bank thief believed to have operated continuously across multiple states for more than seven decades.

“Frankly, we’re dealing with a professional,” said one exhausted investigator while standing in front of a board covered with maps, photos, and entirely unrelated strings. “This individual walks directly into banks during business hours, makes no effort to disguise their identity, spends several minutes surveying the premises, and then leaves carrying evidence.”

According to investigators, the suspect has targeted dozens of institutions throughout the years, showing no loyalty to any particular banking chain.

“This isn’t some local operation,” the investigator continued. “We’ve seen activity at regional banks, national banks, credit unions, and even branches several towns away from the suspect’s residence. The geographic spread suggests organization, patience, and an alarming amount of free time.”

Witnesses consistently report seeing the suspect calmly entering bank lobbies, chatting with tellers, asking how everyone’s grandchildren are doing, and lingering near customer service desks before vanishing into the parking lot.

Security footage reveals the thief often returns repeatedly to the same locations.

“At first we thought she was conducting surveillance,” said one bank manager. “Now we’re convinced she simply enjoys the thrill.”

Financial losses remain difficult to calculate. While no money has been taken, experts estimate the cumulative value of missing property could reach into the hundreds of dollars.

“Maybe more,” one auditor whispered. “Nobody wants to do the math.”

The suspect’s methods are both elegant and ruthless.

Rather than targeting vaults or ATMs, investigators believe she exploits a little-known weakness in banking security: the complete inability of employees to question elderly women doing whatever they want.

“It’s the perfect crime,” said one criminologist. “The average employee will challenge a six-foot tattooed biker carrying a duffel bag. They will not challenge an 82-year-old woman who smells faintly of lavender and offers them hard candy.”

Sources indicate the thief may have developed preferences over the years.

Witnesses report the suspect occasionally visits banks where she holds no accounts whatsoever.

That revelation stunned investigators.

“She doesn’t even need to be there,” said one official. “At that point it’s no longer about the theft. It’s about the love of the game.”

The breakthrough came last week when agents finally reviewed decades of surveillance footage side-by-side.

What they discovered shocked the nation.

The master criminal was not a hardened outlaw.

She wasn’t robbing cash drawers.

She wasn’t forging checks.

She wasn’t laundering money.

She wasn’t even targeting valuables.

For over 75 years, the suspect had been stealing the free pens from bank lobbies.

Every single visit.

One pen at a time.

Authorities estimate she possesses several coffee cans, three kitchen drawers, a ceramic cookie jar, and at least one decorative basket filled entirely with stolen bank pens dating back to the Eisenhower administration.

Even more disturbing, investigators learned she actively visits banks where she has no business whatsoever.

When questioned why she wouldn’t simply take a pen from her own bank, the woman reportedly shrugged.

“It just feels dirtier this way.”

She then placed four more pens into her purse and scheduled appointments at three additional branches for next Tuesday.

At press time, investigators confirmed that while they had finally identified the perpetrator, nobody was willing to arrest a grandmother who just handed them a homemade oatmeal cookie.
