Local Man’s Thanksgiving Legacy Permanently Defined By One Catastrophic Interpretation Of The English Language

Friends say hosts prepared a flawless feast before a single sentence changed history.

WOODLAND PARK, CO — What began as an ordinary Friendsgiving gathering ended in legend last November when a local man reportedly interpreted a simple instruction in the most literal way humanly possible while attempting to carve a turkey.

Witnesses say the evening had gone perfectly.

The hosts prepared a lavish holiday meal featuring homemade sides, desserts, and butter-baked turkey that attendees would later describe as “suspiciously excellent.”

The only challenge remaining was carving the bird.

Sources confirm the host possessed absolutely no experience doing so.

“I don’t know how,” the man reportedly warned guests.

Family members claim this statement should have ended the discussion.

Instead, his wife expressed confidence that the task was well within his abilities.

Witnesses now cite this moment as the last opportunity to prevent disaster.

Armed with a carving knife, determination, and an alarming absence of expertise, the man approached the turkey.

Several guests observed immediate difficulties.

“The bird was winning,” recalled one attendee.

“The turkey had complete control of the situation.”

As the struggle continued, a friend attempted to provide assistance.

“Put the tongs in the turkey,” the friend advised.

According to everyone present, the intended meaning was obvious.

The suggestion was meant to help stabilize the bird while carving.

What happened next unfolded so quickly that witnesses were unable to intervene.

The man picked up the tongs.

Approached the turkey.

Opened the cavity.

And inserted the tongs directly into the opening.

Sources say he then released them.

Completely.

Like a golfer admiring a perfect drive.

Like an actor dropping a microphone after a standing ovation.

Like a man who genuinely believed he had just solved the problem.

Several eyewitnesses describe a brief period of total silence.

“It was about two seconds,” said one guest.

“Long enough for everybody to realize what had happened.”

The room immediately erupted.

Guests reportedly doubled over in laughter.

One individual left the room entirely.

Another lost control of a beverage.

A third was unable to speak for several minutes and communicated exclusively through pointing.

The host remained confused.

“I did exactly what you said.”

Sources confirm the statement only intensified the laughter.

Experts later reconstructed the misunderstanding.

Linguists determined that while the phrase “put the tongs in the turkey” could technically be interpreted as placing tongs inside the turkey, every normal human being would have understood the intended meaning.

Researchers emphasized that the host was apparently not operating under normal-human-being conditions at the time.

Holiday historians have since classified the event as a Core Memory.

Years later, attendees remain unable to discuss turkey carving without mentioning the incident.

Several claim they can no longer use cooking tongs without flashing back to the scene.

One guest described the memory as “the funniest thing I’ve ever seen happen to a bird that was already dead.”

Friends report that the host has made numerous attempts to restore his reputation.

None have succeeded.

At press time, witnesses confirmed that every Thanksgiving eventually reaches the point where someone says, “Remember when he put the tongs inside the turkey?” causing the entire table to laugh before the man can even begin defending himself. 🍗🤣
